Shelton entered the finale with two singers belting out a winning tune, country legend Grace West and soul-rock powerhouse NOIVAS.
Some of Shelton's famous friends attended his farewell show, which included on stage appearances by former "Voice" coaches Adam Levine and CeeLo Green. Green performed a live '80s vibe with former Team Blake contestants in honour of Shelton, while Levine greeted Shelton with a heartwarming message at the start of the show.
NOIVAS from Team Blake placed fifth, while Sorelle from Team Chance and D.Smooth from Team Kelly placed fourth and third place, respectively.
Who won Season 23 of ‘The Voice’?
Gina Miles, who has Northern California ties, was crowned the winner of the 23rd season of "The Voice" on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old grew up in Paxton, Illinois, before moving to Sacramento at the end of her junior year of high school to live with her aunt and pursue her musical dreams.
She ended one of the two-part finals on Monday by performing Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U". She also performed a version of Taylor Swift's "Style" on the first broadcast.
“I'm so emotional right now. I'm just excited that everything went well, and everyone's performance was so good,” Miles said after the performance.
She said she was honoured to have had the chance to close Monday's show.
Before knowing the results, Miles said that her focus shifted from the competition to the celebration.
Miles, the remaining contestants from Team Niall, had tough competition from Grace West and NOIVAS for Team Blake, D.Smooth for Team Kelly, and sister trio Sorel for Team Chance.
D.Smooth’s lucky streak came to a halt. The singer came in third place
“I love you to death, girl,” D.Smooth told Clarkson. “Thank you for seeing me for who I am and allowing me to shine. I’m so grateful for you. You’ve been a blessing to my life.”
The group said, "It means a lot to us that you believe in us and encourage us to always be who we are." "It's been an honor working with you and a pleasure meeting you."
However, Team Chance was unable to take the win in the end, as Sorel dropped to fourth.
Coach Blake Shelton hopes to end his farewell season at the show with another win.
"Thank you so much for believing in me," NOIVAS told Shelton. "I quit music for about seven years, and I came back and the ways you helped me every step of the way gave me the strength to fight and keep going."
Unfortunately, Shelton couldn't help NOIVAS get over the finish line. The singer came in fifth place.
The final will feature duets and several guest performances by the coaches and their cast members. Previous "Voice" coaches Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green will also return.
