This year, an unusual occurrence of Adhikmas is taking place in the month of Sawan after a gap of 19 years. Adhikmas typically occurs once every three years according to the Hindu calendar. However, this time it coincides with the Sawan month, starting from July 4th to July 17th, and the second phase from August 17th to August 31st. The Adhikmas period falls between July 18th and August 16th. This unique alignment of Adhikmas within the Sawan month holds particular significance.
In the month of Sawan, the Kanwarias, that is, herds of Shiva devotees, reach the temple of Lord Shiva carrying water. They offer water to Lord Shiva and pray for their wishes.
